(Why) Heide Writes.

The quickest and most straightforward answer to the question, “Why do you write?” is “I don’t know.”

I have been writing for as long as I can remember – sometime early in grade school when the knuckle on my dominant hand pinky would regularly be smudged in black ink from writing novels in spiral-bound notebooks meant for schooling. I had taken it upon myself to rewrite the plot of a popular television show at the time because the existing one, I was sure, was filled with plot holes.

I jumped on every chance to write following my notebook days — 4H Creative Writing Projects, contests, writing platforms, writing books requested for birthday and holiday gifts, and when in college, the maximum amount of writing courses I could sensibly take while chasing a business degree (we’ll talk about that later).

These days, I’ve been blessed enough to work as a copywriter and lucky enough to find snippets of time here and there to write nonfiction and fiction (between toddler-herding, working, trying to garden, and visiting coffee shops).

My most recent writing adventures include finishing a novel (that I now don’t know what to do with—if you’re a literary agent, let’s chat!) and working on a children’s book due to be released in Summer 2024.

If I haven’t scared you off by now, stick around for my continued train of thought (often derailing), writing news and coffee reviews.
